MOUZ Secures Coaching Future: Sycrone and Xyp9x Re-Sign

The extension of Dennis “sycrone” Nielsen marks the continuation of a developmental success story that began in June 2021. Originally tasked with building the MOUZ NXT academy project, Nielsen’s impact was immediate. He assembled the roster that secured victories in the first two seasons of the WePlay Academy League, proving the effectiveness of the organization’s scouting philosophy.
Architecting the modern MOUZ

“Dennis has been part of MOUZ for almost five years and embodies the long-term approach we believe in,” says CEO Stefan Wendt. “He grew alongside the structures we built. From shaping our academy project to leading the main team on the biggest stages. His development reflects the strength of our system, and his continued role within it is essential as we aim to consistently compete for titles.”
Since his promotion to Head Coach of the main team in January 2022, Nielsen has successfully transplanted that development-focused culture to the highest level of competition. He played a vital role in developing academy graduates like Ádám “torzsi” Torzsás, Dorian “xertioN” Berman, Jon “JDC” de Castro, Kamil “siuhy” Szkaradek, and Jimi “Jimpphat” Salo into tier-one Counter-Strike.
Stability and Experience
While Nielsen represents the internal growth of MOUZ, Assistant Coach Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth brings the perspective of a serial winner. Since joining in March 2024, the four-time Major champion has provided crucial support in match preparation and mental resilience.
“We are thrilled that Dennis and Andreas continue this journey with us,” notes Jan Dominicus, Chief Business Officer at MOUZ. “Dennis is in my view the most complete head coach in CS2, and Andreas brings an analytical depth and experience that few can match. Having one of the most accomplished players ever as a resource for our young players continues to be a great addition to our staff.”
For Højsleth, the extension is an opportunity to apply the lessons learned from one of Counter-Strike’s greatest dynasties to the current MOUZ roster. “I’m really happy to continue this journey,” Højsleth stated, highlighting that the day-to-day collaboration between him and Nielsen is rare to find in the scene. “I see similarities to the Astralis days, where we didn’t break through semi-finals for a long period of time. I firmly believe our main goal now is to unlock those final five percent through sheer tenacity, unity, and hard work.”
The Path Forward
With the leadership structure secured, the focus shifts entirely to the upcoming Cologne Major. For Nielsen, the extension is an opportunity to finalize the work started during the MOUZ NXT days.
“I’m excited to continue building on the foundation we have created together. Over the past three years, we have shown remarkable consistency as a team. Constantly remaining in the world’s Top 10 and for most of that period in the Top 5, an achievement only matched by a few elite organizations,” Nielsen said.
Having guided this core from their first steps in the academy to the tier-one stage, Nielsen understands the community’s rush to crown ready-made stars but insists on patience for his young roster. “Hopefully, along the way, the conversation around this team will increasingly return to the depth of our Counter-Strike, the quality of our work, and the level we are building rather than focusing too quickly on young individuals who are still in the process of developing both as players and personalities.”
Pointing to the team’s strong core, clear principles, and modern high-performance approach, he outlined the clear objective ahead. “Together with the coaching staff, the next step is to sharpen every detail and reach the level required to consistently compete for the biggest trophies.”
